3/08/2024
Foundation Barossa’s ‘Give A Little More Barossa Community Soup Kitchen’ is back for another year, promising a delightful array of soups with a continued commitment to community impact. This much loved event will take place every Tuesday in August from 12 noon at Barossa Central in Nuriootpa, where local culinary talents will prepare delicious soups and bread. All proceeds will go towards supporting Foundation Barossa’s essential programs.
Now in its fourth year, the Give A Little More Barossa Community Soup Kitchen has grown into a symbol of community spirit and solidarity. The funds raised support the work of Foundation Barossa in critical areas such as mental health, community grants and education scholarships while also fostering a sense of togetherness. This year’s event promises to be exceptional, featuring a lineup of soups and bread crafted by talented chefs dedicated to making a positive impact.
The schedule for 2024 includes:
Tuesday 6th: Clare Falzon- Minestrone Soup
Tuesday 13th: Alex Potarzycki, Harvest Kitchen – Baharat Spiced Local Seasonal Carrot and Pumpkin Soup
Tuesday 20th: Elisa Trotta & Lucy Koehler, Vino Lokal – Tofu and Kimchi Soup
Tuesday 27th: Tim Bourke & Danni Stone, Rockford Wines – Chicken & Weichs Noodle Soup
🥖 Mehl Sourdough and Breaking Bread will provide their delicious bread to complement the soups.
Sam Smith, the visionary behind ‘Give A Little More Barossa Community Soup Kitchen’ and Chef at Otherness, shared his enthusiasm: “Seeing our community come together to support such a meaningful cause is truly heartwarming. The impact of our collective effort extends far beyond the delicious soups; it helps build a stronger, more connected Barossa. This year, we’re not just serving soup; we’re serving hope and support to those who need it most.”
Annabelle Travaglione, Executive Officer of Foundation Barossa, remarked: “The ‘Give A Little More Barossa Soup Kitchen’ is a shining example of our community’s generosity and compassion. By participating, you are supporting programs that address the needs of our community. Your involvement plays a crucial role in building a supportive and thriving Barossa for everyone.
New for 2024
This year, we are introducing the option to “Pay It Forward.” Attendees can purchase an additional soup to support the Barossa Community Kitchen, which operates every Tuesday and Thursday in Nuriootpa. This is a meaningful way to support those in need and reinforce our ongoing efforts to provide nutritious meals to the community.
The initiative represents a strong community partnership between chefs, bakers, Foundation Barossa, Northland Packaging, Barossa Central, Barossa Fresh, and Otherness.
We encourage people, businesses, groups, and communities to leave their lunch at home and take advantage of the pre-order system with 100 serves available. An additional 100 serves will be sold to walk-up customers at Barossa Central. These soups tend to sell out quickly, so be sure to mark your calendar!
Will we see you there?
Join us at Barossa Central in Nuriootpa every Tuesday in August from 12 noon to enjoy a delicious lunch of soup and bread for just $15 per serve.
Be part of this wonderful initiative and help make a difference in our community. Together, we can support those in need and build a brighter and resilient future for the Barossa region.
